A New Benchmark in Electric Luxury

Winner of the 2025 World Luxury Car of the Year, the EX90 is the only premium fully electric seven-seat SUV on the New Zealand market. Offering up to 600km of tailpipe-emission-free range, the EX90 sets new standards in safety, design, technology, and sustainable manufacturing. With a refined Scandinavian design philosophy, modern proportions, and advanced software-defined engineering, the EX90 delivers a seamless, intuitive user experience supported by continuous over-the-air updates.

Introducing the All-New Volvo EX60

Arriving later in 2026, the EX60 brings Volvo’s longest ever EV range with an exceptional 810km on a single charge. Its next-generation electric architecture directly addresses customer expectations around range confidence and charging speeds, marking a major step forward in Volvo’s fully electric family. “Together, the EX90 and EX60 represent a step change for Volvo in New Zealand,” adds Daile Stephens, Volvo Cars New Zealand Brand Manager. “They elevate the brand in every dimension - range, technology, design and safety while staying true to our core values. These cars will expand our appeal to families, long-distance drivers and early adopters alike, and position Volvo as a leader in premium electric mobility in New Zealand.”

Volvo’s Continued Growth

Supported by refreshed XC60 and XC90 models and the return of the all-wheel drive XC40 and the introduction of the EX30 Cross Country, Volvo recorded one of the strongest performances among New Zealand’s premium brands in 2025, delivering 534 vehicles, up 40.5% year on year.

“Volvo’s performance in New Zealand is a reflection of the shifting expectations of premium buyers,” says Daile “Customers here are choosing brands that lead with safety, sustainability and genuine long-term value and Volvo delivers all three. With demand growing across the country, the arrival of these new EX battery electric models will only accelerate the momentum we’re already seeing.”

Safety At Its Core

The EX90 achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating and was recognised as one of the highest-performing vehicles tested in 2025. A next-generation suite of cameras, radar and sensors creates a real-time 360° safety shield, supporting assisted driving and driver alertness monitoring. The system can safely bring the car to a stop and call for help if the driver becomes incapacitated.**

High Performance Technology

Powered by NVIDIA DRIVE AI platforms, Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms, and Volvo’s in-house software, the EX90 operates as a high-performance computer on wheels. A 14.5-inch centre display with Google built in, wireless Apple CarPlay and 5G connectivity enhances everyday convenience and personalisation.

Electric Performance and Efficiency

The EX90 Ultra variant features a 106kWh battery, dual permanent-magnet motors, 500kW (680hp), and 870Nm of torque. Charging from 10–80% takes around 30 minutes, enabling up to 600km WLTP of driving range.

Designed for a Sustainable Future

Reflecting Volvo’s climate ambitions, the EX90 incorporates recycled steel, aluminium and 48kg of recycled plastics and bio-based materials—the highest amount of recycled plastics ever used in a Volvo. The EX90 is also the brand’s first vehicle equipped with bidirectional charging, enabling future use of the car’s battery to power homes, devices or even other Volvo EVs.
