The limited production Mercedes-AMG GT R is a lighter, more track-focused version of Mercedes latest sports car and is a true rival to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Aston Martin Vantage GT8.
 
This version has various aerodynamic upgrades (the extra wings and wider bodywork you can see in the photos are just the start) and its rather more in-your-face colour scheme is what GT R is all about, the paint rejoices in the name of Green Hell Magno a none too subtle reference to the Nurburgring circuit in Germany, where the GT R was developed, so no wonder it has completed a lap time of 7min 11secs, which was way quicker Ferrari 488, Corvette ZR1 and the Porsche GT-3 RS
Mercedes openly advertise that no rear end drive car has ever gone quicker!
 
So if you're looking for a car to go under the radar...step aside.....this really isn't for you.
 
Possessing a mid-engine Hot-V (that you actually sit behind) emitting 585hp with 700nm of torque out of a 4.0l twin turbo V8 and will do 0-100km/h in just 3.6secs.
 
Straight-line speed is only half the story, because the extra grip provided by its 9-stage traction control system (Yellow middle switch) active aerodynamics, adjustable suspension, huge boot-mounted spoiler and rear-wheel steering system means the car handles incredibly, but you must get the tyres warm first though!!
 
The lack of subtlety continues inside, with lightweight, race-inspired bucket seats and, to match the flamboyant determination of the exterior, the option to specify yellow gauges, seat belts and trim pieces, but you'll be too focused on smiling whilst listening to that glorious exhaust sound.
